Words are indeed powerful. It can be uttered in a manner that conveys rudeness, an act of verbal abuse, and taunting an offensive language against a culture, gender, race, lifestyle and ideology. The birth of politically correct (or PC) terminology in the late 1970s was used to promote the practice of speech that that is not disparaging or disadvantageous.
PC words were coined to foster increasing tolerance for the diversity of culture, political sensitivity (race, gender, ideology). However, some PC words are made to poke fun or to best describe a persona in a gentle manner. Like for example. ” He is short”.
